The RECESS Conference, now in its third year, is thrilled to announce RECESS25: National Black and Brown Clean Energy Conference, scheduled for October 7–9, 2025, at Marriott @ The Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan. Convened by Carla Walker-Miller, Founder and CEO of Walker-Miller Energy Services—one of the leading African American-owned, woman-owned energy efficiency companies in the nation—RECESS25 stands as the

nation’s largest clean energy conference expressly designed for Black and Brown communities.

The conference seeks to offer pathways to sustainable careers, business opportunities, and ownership, while continuing to build on the success of previous years and driving lasting impact for Black and Brown communities across the country.

RECESS25 will feature keynote speakers, specialized workshops, unique exhibits, and forward-thinking panel discussions, including sessions on clean energy with climate mayors, AI innovators, and emerging entrepreneurs. Attendees can expect to network with leading voices in renewables, climate justice, and equity-focused policy, while also accessing critical career development resources.

A wide variety of individuals and organizations will benefit from attending RECESS25. From clean energy professionals and environmental justice advocates to students and educators, entrepreneurs and innovators in clean energy, policymakers and local leaders and sponsors and corporate stakeholders.
